SIVASAGAR: A road blockade was staged in Lakwa demanding the immediate construction of the Lakwa–Rajgarh road.
The protest was organised at the initiative of the Lakwa Regional Students’ Union and the ATSA Lakwa Sub-Branch Committee.
Local residents from greater Lakwa also extended their support to the protest programme.
The protesters demanded that the authorities expedite the construction work on the Lakwa–Rajgarh road.
According to the protesters, the prolonged delay in construction has caused significant inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
The poor condition of the road has reportedly affected the daily movement of students, workers, businesspeople and other commuters.
The protesters urged the government and concerned authorities to take immediate steps to complete the road construction.
They warned of stronger democratic protests if their demands are not addressed promptly.
The road blockade also disrupted vehicular movement in the area for some time.
The protesters said they would continue their agitation until concrete steps are taken towards the early completion of the Lakwa–Rajgarh road.
