District Administration Cracks Down on Poor Highway Conditions, Gives NHAI 7-Day Deadline

Guwahati: The district administration has taken a firm stand over the poor condition of the national highway, directing the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to complete repair work within seven days.

According to the report, NHAI has been instructed to begin highway repair work immediately. The decision follows several concerns raised by local residents regarding the condition and safety of the highway.

Monitoring Committee Formed

A special committee has been constituted to monitor the highway repair work and ensure that the required measures are implemented properly.

The committee includes the DTO, Sonapur SDPO and CDPO, PD, along with two local residents.

The issues raised by local residents regarding the highway will also be discussed on September 3 in the presence of the district commissioner.

Action After Serious Accident

The administration’s latest decision comes after a serious accident, following which a meeting was held at the Police Commissioner’s office.

The district commissioner subsequently announced the seven-day deadline for highway repairs.

Meanwhile, two NHAI officials have reportedly been detained by Dispur Police in connection with the matter.

The focus now remains on whether NHAI can complete the required repair work within the stipulated seven-day period and whether the measures will improve road safety for commuters.
