Guwahati, October 29: The crew of ‘Aideujan’, a night bus operating between Guwahati and Dibrugarh, has earned appreciation for its timely assistance to a woman who gave birth to a baby girl aboard the moving bus.
According to available information, the incident took place last night near Jakhalabandha, close to Kaziranga, while the bus was travelling from Guwahati towards Dibrugarh. The woman went into labour during the journey, creating an emergency situation inside the bus.
The bus was stopped, and male passengers were asked to get off to allow the crew to assist the woman. Driver Babul Borpatra, along with Rakib Ahmed, Sahabuddin and other members of the four-person operating team, stepped forward to help the expectant mother.
With their assistance, the woman delivered a baby girl inside the bus. The newborn was reported to be healthy at the time of the incident.
Mother and Newborn Arrangements Made for Hospital Care
Following the delivery, the crew provided initial assistance to the mother and the newborn. They also arranged for an ambulance to take them to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The incident reportedly occurred around midnight. Recognising the family’s possible need for financial assistance with medical care, the bus owner also provided ₹5,000 to the family.
A Gesture of Humanity on the Highway
The crew’s response went beyond its usual responsibility of transporting passengers. By helping a woman during an unexpected childbirth emergency, the team demonstrated compassion and a sense of responsibility.
The incident highlights how timely assistance and cooperation can make a meaningful difference during an emergency, particularly when access to immediate medical support may be limited during travel.
