Hailakandi: Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday ordered show-cause notices to be issued to five agriculture development officers in Hailakandi over allegations of negligence of duty.
The action was directed particularly over allegations that the officers had failed to conduct field inspections.
Hazarika also ordered their immediate suspension if they fail to provide satisfactory replies to the notices.
The minister said negligence in farmer registration and in providing benefits under government schemes would not be tolerated.
