RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said Hindutva does not mean that there should be no Muslims in Bharat, stressing that every human being has dignity.
Recounting an interaction at a lecture where Muslim attendees asked what the idea of a Hindu Rashtra meant for them, Bhagwat said he rejected the suggestion that they should “die out”.
“That is not Hindutva,” Bhagwat said, adding that a person who calls himself Hindu must believe that all paths lead to the same destination.
He said there is no difference in the dignity of human beings and referred to the idea of viewing all beings equally, including a learned Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a person considered an outcaste.
Bhagwat said differences exist in nature and must be recognised, but added that the underlying reality is that “we are one”. He said such differences may persist for some time and later disappear, with new differences emerging.
