Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has issued a strong warning to a cleric who is alleged to have threatened the government over action against a madrasa in Rudrapur, saying such threats will not intimidate the government and that no one will be spared for violating the law.
Speaking on the issue, Dhami said the alleged threats reflect what he described as a particular mindset and ideology operating behind such statements. He stressed that Uttarakhand, which he described as ‘Dev Bhoomi’, would not be governed on the basis of vote-bank politics or appeasement.
‘No government will be run on appeasement’
Dhami said the government would continue to take action wherever laws and regulations are violated.
Referring to Uttarakhand as a sacred land, he maintained that decisions in the state would be based on the law rather than political considerations or appeasement.
13,000 acres of encroached land cleared
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
According to Dhami, around 13,000 acres of land have already been cleared of illegal encroachments in Uttarakhand.
He made it clear that the campaign would continue and would not be stopped because of threats or pressure.
Land law, UCC and anti-conversion law
Dhami also referred to Uttarakhand’s strict land laws, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and legislation aimed at preventing illegal religious conversions.
He said action would be taken against anyone found violating the Constitution or the laws of the state.
During the speech, it was also claimed that some families in Khatima who had allegedly been converted through inducements had been brought back to their previous faith. No documents or detailed evidence supporting this claim were presented in the video.
‘We will find them wherever they are’
Dhami further warned that the government would identify and take action against people involved in such activities wherever they are found in the state.
He also urged people not to be afraid of threats allegedly issued by clerics.
The Chief Minister’s message was that neither threats nor pressure from any individual or group would prevent the government from enforcing the law.
However, the specific allegations concerning the cleric, the madrasa and the alleged threats would require independent verification and due legal process.
