Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, said Rahul Gandhi had responded that protests would stop if the government acted to protect what Tharoor described as citizens’ constitutional rights. The location of the video was not identified.
Tharoor said Gandhi’s position was that the government needed to do “just one thing” for people to be satisfied and shop happily, after which “all our protests” would stop.
However, Tharoor alleged that the government and the Election Commission were taking away citizens’ constitutional rights. He said protesters could not remain silent as long as that continued.
The video did not specify which constitutional rights were being referred to, or identify the protests mentioned by Tharoor.
