Supreme Court Cancels Anant Singh’s Bail in Murder Case, Orders Surrender by December 1

New Delhi, October 30: The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the bail granted to former JD(U) MLA Anant Singh in the Dularchand Yadav murder case and directed him to surrender before the authorities by December 1.

A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale also directed the Bihar Police to complete the investigation into the murder case within four months. The matter has been listed for further hearing after that period.

The order came while the court was hearing a petition filed by Niraj Kumar, grandson of Dularchand Yadav, challenging the Patna High Court’s decision to grant bail to Singh on March 19, 2026.

The Supreme Court questioned the High Court’s decision, observing that the seriousness of the alleged offence and the accused’s criminal antecedents had not been adequately considered while granting bail.

Dularchand Yadav was killed on October 30, 2025, during the Bihar Assembly election campaign in Mokama. Anant Singh was arrested on November 1, 2025, in connection with the case. He remains an accused, and the allegations have not yet been established in court.

In a separate development, the JD(U) expelled Anant Singh and his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, from the party for six years on October 24 over alleged anti-party activities.
