Sivasagar: The issue of alleged Bangladeshi infiltration has triggered a strong reaction in Sivasagar, with the Jatiya Sangrami Sena Assam taking an aggressive stance on the matter.

Addressing a press conference at the Sivasagar Press Club, the organisation’s central president Chitu Barua expressed strong anger over what he described as the growing presence of suspected Bangladeshi nationals in different parts of the district.

According to Barua, indigenous people have suffered extensive losses due to the recent floods, while some people allegedly took advantage of the situation to enter different areas and construct houses.

He claimed that around 9,000 suspected Bangladeshi nationals have entered areas including Bihubar No. 2 Railway Quarry and Rangajan.

The organisation also alleged that around 7,000 suspected Bangladeshi nationals have entered the Nepali Basti area of Geeti Siding.

However, these figures are allegations made by the organisation and have not been independently verified or officially confirmed.

Anger Over Manas Jyoti Chetia’s Death

The organisation also raised the issue of the mysterious death of Manas Jyoti Chetia during the press conference.

Chitu Barua demanded that the police arrest everyone allegedly connected with Chetia’s death and conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.

He said the authorities must take strict action if anyone is found responsible for the death of the young Assamese man.

‘Sivasagar Will Not Become Mini Bangladesh’

Taking a strong position on the alleged infiltration issue, Jatiya Sangrami Sena Assam warned that the matter could not be allowed to continue unchecked.

Chitu Barua said action must be taken against people who are found to be residing illegally in the district.

‘Bangladeshi infiltration will not be allowed in the heartland of the Assamese people,’ Barua said.

He further warned that the organisation would not accept any attempt to turn Sivasagar into a ‘Mini Bangladesh’.

Memorandum Submitted to Political Adviser

The organisation has also demanded that the Assam government investigate allegations of illegal entry into the Bihubar area and take legal action against anyone found to be residing illegally.

In this connection, a memorandum was submitted to Tarang Gogoi, MLA from Naharkatia Assembly constituency and Political Adviser to the Chief Minister.

Jatiya Sangrami Sena Assam has urged the government to take the allegations of suspected infiltration in Sivasagar seriously and conduct a proper investigation.

The organisation said that if anyone is found to have entered or settled in the area illegally, appropriate action should be taken according to law.

The allegations made at the press conference have once again brought the issue of alleged illegal infiltration to the centre of political and public discussion in Sivasagar.
