Imphal, October 31: Security forces have arrested two members of a banned outfit for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a woman in Manipur’s Imphal East district, police said on Saturday.
The arrested men are members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba), according to a police statement.
A joint team of police commandos and personnel from the 31st Assam Rifles apprehended the two suspects on Thursday.
Police said they were suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of a woman from Top Awang Leikai in Imphal East district on September 3.
A firearm, ammunition and a car were seized from their possession, the police statement said.
Security forces have continued search operations across Manipur since ethnic violence broke out in the State in May 2023. Further investigation into the kidnapping case is underway.
