On Monday, the Chief Minister alleged that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier insulted Dr Bhupen Hazarika and had now made remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late father.
“Insulting people is nothing new for Mallikarjun Kharge,” the Chief Minister said, alleging that Kharge had previously insulted the late singer, composer and cultural icon Dr Bhupen Hazarika.
The Chief Minister further alleged that Kharge’s son had criticised Assamese people when a semiconductor industry came to Assam. He did not name Kharge’s son or provide details of the alleged remarks.
He accused the Congress of moving away from India’s civilisation, culture, customs and conduct, and alleged that the party had embraced the cultures of Bangladesh and Pakistan instead. The Chief Minister said this was why people rejected the Congress and why it lost elections.
He also alleged that the Congress described its electoral losses as “vote theft” when voters did not support the party.
