‘Calculated Conspiracy to Plunge Nation into Anarchy’: JP Nadda Slams Rahul Gandhi Over INDIA Bloc Rally

New Delhi, November 1: Union Minister and BJP leader J P Nadda launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Delhi’ rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Sunday. Nadda alleged that the Opposition was using the name of democracy to create unrest and destabilise an elected government.

Describing the rally as an “orchestrated drama”, Nadda outlined what he called a four-stage “anarchy model” of the Opposition’s politics. According to him, the first stage involves spreading misinformation and rumours about electoral processes and voter rolls. The second involves street protests aimed at disrupting administration. The third, he alleged, seeks to damage the economy by disrupting markets and supply chains. The fourth stage, he claimed, involves attempts to destabilise an elected government with the support of foreign powers.

“What is unfolding today at Ramlila Maidan is not an act of respect for democracy; rather, it is a calculated conspiracy to plunge the nation into anarchy—in the name of democracy,” Nadda said. He, however, did not present specific evidence to substantiate the allegations.

Nadda also questioned the timing of the rally, which was held on November 1, a date associated with the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. He accused the Congress of being insensitive to the Sikh community and alleged that the Gandhi family had not offered a sincere apology for the violence.

Referring to the suffering of Sikh families during the riots, Nadda described the episode as one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history. He also referred to Delhi’s Widow Colony as a reminder of the violence.

The BJP leader further alleged that the rally would affect the livelihoods of small traders, shopkeepers and street vendors in Delhi during the festive season. Citing Dhanteras, Diwali and Chhath Puja, he said this period was particularly important for small businesses.

Nadda claimed that the Chamber of Trade and Industry had repeatedly written to Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee, urging them not to organise a large political gathering in Delhi during the festive period.

The INDIA bloc organised the rally to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders participated in the gathering.
