New Delhi, October 31: A Delhi court on Saturday issued fresh bailable warrants against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case dating back to 2018.
Judicial Magistrate Rahul Jain issued the warrants in a case filed by Vikas Sanskrityayan, also known as Vikas Pandey, who accused Rathee of defaming him through a video uploaded on his YouTube channel. The detailed court order is awaited.
Earlier, on October 17, the court had issued bailable warrants against Rathee after a process server reported that his residence was locked while attempting to serve a notice. The court had subsequently directed that fresh summons be sent to his address in Gurugram, Haryana.
Appearing for Pandey, advocate Samaksh Sharma had submitted that Rathee ordinarily resides in Austria and had travelled to India to participate in the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests in Delhi.
The court records indicate that Rathee was initially summoned in July 2019. The defamation complaint was filed by Pandey in 2018 following the publication of a video about him on Rathee’s YouTube channel.
