CM Issues Urgent Directive to All Ministers, Local MLAs Must Be Invited to Meetings

Guwahati, October 31: The Chief Minister’s Office has issued an important directive to all ministers in Assam, asking them to ensure that the concerned local MLAs are invited to committee meetings and government programmes.

According to the directive, complaints had emerged that local legislators were not being given due importance and were often not invited to meetings of various committees. The Chief Minister’s Office has now issued clear instructions to address the matter.

What does the directive say?

  1. The concerned local MLA must be informed before any committee meeting is held.
  2. If a minister attends a budget-related event or government programme, the local MLA concerned must also be invited and accorded due respect.
  3. Even when the presence of an MLA is not mandatory at departmental meetings or government review meetings, the concerned legislator should be invited as a matter of courtesy.

The directive is expected to ensure greater participation of local legislators in official meetings and government programmes.
