Neha Bora has alleged that Nishu Azad has so far only been detained, while Swatantra Bharadwaj has not been arrested despite what she described as an on-camera admission of assault and an attempt to take someone’s life.
Speaking to ANI, Bora claimed that people with good relations with those in power were increasingly able to commit violence in public without consequences. She said the situation reflected a “double standard” in the use of law and order.
Referring to Delhi, Bora alleged that people had to stage a sit-in to get an FIR registered and seek Bharadwaj’s arrest. In contrast, she claimed that two Muslim journalists were picked up from a Rekha Gupta event and beaten at a police station.
Bora also alleged that police had arrested a six-year-old child. She said police were not following law-and-order rules or the rule book, but were acting to protect orders coming from those in power.
According to Bora, Bharadwaj had said that even if action was taken against him, he would go to jail, return and again “deal with” the same people. She said such remarks were not merely a warning to Nishu Azad or those associated with him, but raised concerns for ordinary citizens.
Bora accused BJP supporters of backing what she called “hateful goons”, and warned that violence directed at one group today could target others, including their children, tomorrow. The video did not include a response from Delhi Police, Bharadwaj or the BJP to her allegations.
